Prêt-A-Porter is a comedy movie directed by Robert Altman and stars an ensemble cast including Sophia Loren, Julia Roberts, Rupert Everett, Richard E Grant, Cher, and Prince’s former girlfriend Kim Basinger, among others.

Translated as “ready to wear”, Prêt-A-Porter is a story chronicling the interconnected lives of its characters in the lead-up to Paris Fashion Week. Its accompanying soundtrack compilation was released on 6 December 1994 and contains one Prince released track Get Wild. The song was co-written by Prince (since 1993 under the name Prince Love Symbol) and NPG’s bassist Sonny Thompson but is credited to the New Power Generation. Get Wild was recorded at Paisley Park Studios in May 1994 with the full band lineup of the New Power Generation, captured in the same session that produced the band’s second album Exodus.

The Prêt-A-Porter soundtrack was issued four months ahead of NPG’s Exodus. Because Get Wild was released in promotion of Prêt-A-Porter it was lead single for the European release of Exodus. The versions of the track differ slightly, the cut on Prêt-A-Porter being 1:25 longer. The movie soundtrack peaked in the US at number 29 on Billboard’s Top 200 Chart. Prêt-A-Porter movie was released on Christmas Day 1994 and would eventually gross $46.8 million worldwide.

The movie was shot on location during Paris Fashion Week in 1994. Prince attended its next event in July 1995 as guest of Donna Versace. Each attendee to Versace’s 1995 collection unveiling duly received the promotional cassette The Versace Experience containing a remix of Get Wild. The cassette was finally given a commercial release in April 2019.
