Prince will be hosting a Gala Event called Piano & A Microphone, to be held at Paisley Park Studios on 21 January.
The show follows speculation triggered from @Prince3EG’s tweets over Christmas that, because of large allocations of seats for his consequently postponed European tour of the same name was sold by authorised ticket agencies to unauthorised resellers, Prince had been seriously considering holding a residency of shows throughout 2016 instead confined to the safety of his studio complex in Minneapolis.
It is unknown whether the gala event is the preview for a wider tour, which originally had been due to run for 22 dates across Europe as a theatre tour (cancelled in the main due to earlier concerns with touts but also in response to the Paris terrorist attack) or that it will comprise of a residency stint exclusive to Paisley Park Studios under the intent to combat unauthorised sales of tickets. What is unusual is that announcement comes a full two weeks ahead of the show date, which is highly irregular for the often same day announced shows at Paisley Park, suggesting that the gala could well indeed be a formal tour preview or the launch of a full blown residency stint.
Tickets range from $100 for general admission to $269.95 for a VIP seat, there are to be two shows on the day, 8pm and 11pm. Furthermore the inaugural batch of CDs of HITNRUN Phase Two will also be available for purchase ahead of its wider retail release.
