Prince has been officially nominated to enter into the prestigious Songwriters Hall of Fame. Officially known as the National Academy of Popular Music, set up in 1969 has nominated Prince along with Neil Young and Pete Townsend to enter into their Hall of Fame for 2006. Previous inductees include, Bob Dylan, Elton John, James Brown and Paul Simon. The 37th annual induction ceremony will be held in New York, however no date has been set though it is likely to take place sometime in June, the results will be announced in the preceding weeks.
