The details for the official Prince tribute concert at Xcel Energy Centre have at long last been revealed by his family.
The event, titled: The Official Prince Tribute: A Celebration of Life and Music, will be taking place on 13 October, St Paul, Minneapolis, as rumoured, but at the 18,000 capacity Xcel Energy Centre.
The US Bank Stadium was originally intended to host the tribute show as it had been pre-booked before Prince’s death on 21 April for 13 August. He was due to play the inaugural show of the newly finished stadium of the Minnesota Vikings, but the date for the tribute show initially kept for 13 August but later slipped to 13 October.
The family have faced criticism in recent weeks for not confirming the acts for the show, nor releasing ticket information until one month ahead of the event. The change to the smaller venue is likely due to organisers being likely now to sell all tickets for the 52,000 capacity stadium in the remaining time available.
The line-up has been confirmed as: Stevie Wonder, Christina Aguilera, Chaka Khan, John Mayer, Tori Kelly, Anita Baker, Doug E. Fresh, Luke James, Bilal, Mint Condition, Morris Day & the Time, Judith Hill and Liv Warfield. New Power Generation member Morris Hayes and 3RDEYEGIRL are also confirmed. However, The Revolution and Sheila E. will not be participating.
Tickets go on sale at Ticketmaster and the Xcel Centre box office from 10am, Monday 19 September. The price of the seats starting at a very reasonable $19.99.
