A 7-mile stretch of Highway 5 running through Eden Prairie and Chanhassen past Paisley Park Studios has been officially renamed Prince Rogers Nelson Memorial Highway.

The Minnesota Senate voted 55-5 on 4 May to back the House which previously voted 121-0 to approve the renaming of the Eden Prairie to Chanhassen section of Highway 5. Purple road signs displaying the new name of the stretch will be installed over the next 30 days.
At the ceremony held at the entrance Paisley Park at 11:30 on Tuesday 9 May overlooking Highway 5, State Governor Tim Walz formalised the road’s new designation by signing the bill in to force using purple ink. Paisley Park Studios has become one of the state’s most popular tourist attractions since Prince’s death in April 2016 when it opened as a museum from October 2016.
Update
Paisley Park will be hosting a celebration marking the unveiling of the signs on August 7th at 10am, offering free admission on the day.
There is no substitute for the real thing, but Prince left a legacy of thirty-nine studio albums, released 100 singles, as well as created many albums for other artists. Prince is one of the most prolific and successful songwriters in history.
