2 MINS READ

The Prince Estate will host a special event to mark the seventh anniversary of Prince’s passing. The commemoration, named A Night To Remember, will be staged from 19:30 to 23:00 on 21 April at Paisley Park, the former home and studios where also Prince was found dead on 21 April 2016 following an overdose with the powerful opioid fentanyl.

In what looks to become an annual fixture at Paisley Park, the event celebrates the life and legacy of the music icon. At 4:21pm EST there will be a candle lighting in the studio which will be live streamed for seven minutes of reflection. Following a special commemorative showcase of key quotes by Prince throughout his life, a dance party will be hosted at Paisley’s live music venue NPG Music Club. At the turntables will be Prince’s DJ Lenka Paris spinning many of his tracks in celebration of Prince’s life through his music. Tickets are on sale at $150 per head. Some of the proceeds will be given to benefit various charities supporting local homeless and vulnerable children.

The larger 2023 Celebration event will also be staged at Paisley Park from 8 to 11 June. An official announcement of the four day programme is expected this month, in what promises to “celebrate all things music, fashion, and Prince”. The billing is yet to be announced.
