Prince and Wendy performed together for the first time since the Revolution was practically fired by Prince in the mid 1980’s. During the Travis Smiley Tonight Show, aired on PBS on 19 February, the two played an acoustic version of Prince’s new song Reflection. The song, one of his most personal to date containing lyrics about his deceased mother is from his new album – Musicology. During the show the video of the album’s title track – Musicology – was aired. Both songs received warm reviews from fans, however, their commerciality remains to be tested. Prince is using the new album to return to the mainstream is pushing it to the full with a press conference, TV appearances, and a full scale tour. He is likely going to distribute the album through a major record label. With a tour and the high profile appearances of opening the Grammies and being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Alicia Keys and Outkast the 21st anniversary of Purple Rain, Prince is aware more than most that this year is his best, and really his final chance, for a mainstream comeback before he hangs up his purple raincoat once and for all. Prince has called a press conference to be held in El Rey Theater in Los Angeles on 24 February.
